GEORGIA STATE IS IN THE HOUSE! ! !

Things are looking really good in the NBA. The league seems to be in good health. The playoffs are extremely entertaining now. The stars are shining brightly. But there is still that nagging problem. You know the one. NOBODY KNOWS THE ROOKIES! ! ! The trend is continuing with the draft creeping upon us. Out of the top ten prospects for the 2009 NBA draft, zero of them are seniors. . . none, zilch. Maybe the NCAA and the NBA should up the limit to three years out of high school. The problem then is what about foreign players. Rick Rubio is 18 and he has been a professional in Spain for four years now. Should he be allowed to play in the NBA?

It’s not very often I get to shout out to my Alma Mater but GEORGIA STATE IS IN THE HOUSE! ! ! That’s right, those G. State Panthers are playing Georgia Tech, whom they’ve already beaten, in the College World Series Baseball Tournament! ! ! Keep progressing and keep doing your thing thing!

Peria Jerry is the first round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons and back in 2004 he almost died on the field! His body locked up due to dehydration and he had to be rushed to the emergency room. He was trying to loose weight and he stopped eating and drinking. This is just another reason why you shouldn’t assume that just because a person is as big as a refrigerator, that they eat refrigerator quantities of food and beverage.

I’ll holla at ya’ll later. . . I really got get back on my job!

How About those Magic!

How About those Magic! They showed their intestinal fortitude against the NBA’s MVP and the team with the best home record, the Cleveland Cavs. They have been tested thoroughly in these playoffs. Six game series against the 76ers. Seven game series against the World Champion Boston Celtics. I thought and said before the playoffs that Cleveland would face stiff opposition against Orlando if Orlando could push past the Celtics. I thought Cleveland would easily beat Boston but they have had problems with Orlando all season. I still got the James Gang and I think it will go seven. Maybe now the Cavs bench will be exposed. Show up or lose. Lebron is almost a one man gang out there. If and I do mean if, the Cavs can survive this series. . . they win the championship. If the Magic win. . . it might get real interesting depending on who they play. Good game Dwight! Throw it Down big man, throw it down!

I didn’t talk about the Lakers and Denver, did I? That was a very impressive first game by both teams. The soft Lakers showed some metal. Denver played well, but they didn’t close the deal. I am most impressed with Carmelo. The battle down low with Kobe. I’ve never seen Kobe battle in the post with anyone they way they went at it that night. Good, tough, physical play. I loved it. The Lakers might sweep this series with that being said. The Lakers are a little bit afraid of Denver because they know Denver has the ability to beat them. This will force the Lakers to actually play with a sense of urgency. The talent will show up and the Lakers should win. The series will still be a seven game series in all likelihood. Why. Because the Lakers are the Lakers. They aren’t finished being punched in the mouth just yet.

I love the NBA playoffs, can’t you tell?

VICK EVADES THE MEDIA! ! !

Vick is out and they skirted the media. How did we, “The Media”, allow this to happen! Good job Vick. You make have defeated us this time, but we will have our revenge (in sinister, evil villain voice)!

The Atlanta Hawks have the 19th overall pick in the NBA draft. Let the games begin!

Tommy Glavine is going to be pitching in Gwinnett this weekend so check him out as he hits the comeback trail.

More to come in the upcoming weeks! ! !

Wayman Tisdale Passes.

I'm at a loss of words really. Wayman Tisdale has been going through it lately. We lost a good one last week and we loose another great one this week.

Tisdale was a three-time All-American at Oklahoma in the mid-1980s before playing a dozen years in the NBA and later becoming an accomplished jazz musician.

But those who knew Tisdale, who died Friday at a hospital in his hometown of Tulsa, Okla., recalled not only his professional gifts but a perpetually sunny outlook, even in the face of a two-year battle with cancer that took his life at 44.

We didn't do a show today but we will stay on the grind at get at ya'll soon.

Thanks Cleveland!

Thanks Lebron. Thanks for showing all of Atlanta what greatness is. We have longed for the days of Dominique and we have been give substitutes that don’t make the grade. We then went to the Omni and now Phillips to see other stars of the NBA and not our own. Josh is exciting and he played well in a couple of games and especially in game one on the road. But Josh doesn’t do it night in and night out. Joe is a hell of a player. But he doesn’t do it night in and night out. You, you my man, are the genuine article.

Thanks to Cleveland. Thanks you for showing us what commitment to defense is really all about. A thanks for showing us that defense is played on every possession and not just when you need to get a stop. Atlanta is good defensively. Better than average. Sometimes, Atlanta is great defensively. But there’s that word again. . . SOMETIMES. Our defense isn’t CONSISTENT enough to be considered a great defensive team. But I will say, our defense is close.

Lastly, thank you Cleveland and Lebron for taking us out of our misery. Thank you for not leading us on like a date on prom night. You didn’t tease us by allowing us to win a game at home.

We need to heal physically and mentally from this series. We need to go home early. We need to lick our wounds. We need to GROW UP.

Sincerely,

Mr. GA Boy #2

THANK YOU CAVS.

Thank you for defeating the Hawks. I'll pontificate about this a little later on. I gotta catch some z's.

HEART? WHO HAS IT?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day. There was some great action on the hardwoods in Houston and in Orlando. I love the HEART that those Houston Rockets showed. Say what you want to about them and about Ron Artest, his team has shown up for every game. Did you see that Orlando and Boston game last night? Awesome. It’s about time I start giving Doc Rivers some credit. See, I’m one of those people that believe he didn’t have much to do with Boston winning the ring last year. I fell that any quality coach would be able to manage that team to a championship. But this post-season he has gotten every ounce out of that team. Now I think a little differently. He had to manage that team and keep them focused on the task. Some coaches would’ve tried to enforce their own ideology and would’ve overrun the team. Kudos to Doc. I also loved Big Baby’s response after the game. “I shoot that shot everyday. I was supposed to make that shot. I’m just doing what is necessary for my team to win.” Sounds like a winning mentality . . . unlike some teams I know.

I hope the Cavs whip out the broom tonight and take us out of our misery. It’s really bad. I’m watching the game Saturday and I’m thinking . . . “how are they gonna mess this up”. And boy did they ever. Zaza is my man, but that was a bone headed play. Our depth and lack thereof, has been exposed. Hopefully we will address that in the off-season and next year. Our bench needs to play more, even if that means we put ourselves in awkward positions. If we don’t do that, we need to get experienced players that don’t need to play a lot of minutes in order to give you quality minutes. I don’t even like Law’s body language. It’s like he know he’s only out there because they don’t have any other option. It’s sad. But we’ll get better. I hope.
R.I.P Chuck Daly.

Love, Peace and Dominique!

The HAWKS are LOSERS!

I said it. I kinda mean it. The HAWKS are LOSERS! Now what do I mean by that? Key players of this team have loser mentalities. I even read them joking about needing help for Spirit the Hawk. This team needs an attitude adjustment. It isn’t funny to get blasted by 27 and then 20 THE VERY NEXT GAME. We are being laughed at and ridiculed on a national level. This is unacceptable. Play with some dignity as one of our callers Ack said. Play with some intestinal fortitude! Leave it on the court so that you can build off of this for next season.

WILL THE HAWKS EARN THEIR SALARIES?

I know, I know ... It’s been a might long time but I gotta pay the bills, right? Right. With that in mind, are the Hawks going to earn they’re paychecks and show up at some point in this series with the Cavs? We will see with this game tomorrow night.

I love the way Orlando handled Boston tonight. They made very good offensive adjustments to make it without a quality point guard. Nice work from their bench. Let’s see if that carries over into the next game. I wish they would extend their defense and guard the ball the entire length of the court to keep Boston from running their offense effectively and possibly make them hurry their possessions. Just a thought from an observer.

We’ll talk about this and much more on the show tomorrow so don’t miss it! If you do miss it, don’t forget to go to http://www.thegaboys.com and listen to the show in it’s entirety.

MAN UP HAWKS, MAN UP! ! !

The Atlanta Hawks play the Cavs tonight after a loss on Tuesday. The scrapped during the first half and played decently. The Cavs later exerted their dominance and dismissed of the threat. I expect more of the same tonight. Why? Because these dudes are not going to MAN UP! I applaud Josh for having an aggressive opening road game. Mike Bibby played solidly. Al Horford looks like his ankle is still bothering him but I think he is doing his best. Bottom line, Joe needs to MAN UP. “I’m getting double teamed”, “I give up the rock but I haven’t been getting it back”, these are some of the responses that Joe has given as excuses to his bad play in this years playoffs. I mean this dude actually said that it’s frustrating to give up the rock knowing that you might not get it back. What! Is he serious! You are the best player on this team. If you don’t play like it . . . the Hawks will look like what they looked like Tuesday, a second tier team, at best.

In other Atlanta sports news . . . Why did the Atlanta Falcons sign Alabama’s quarterback? Who don’t they like in the quarterback core? Hopefully, it’s not Shockley. We will talk about this among other things on this weekends show.

HAWKS WIN! NOW WE GET TO PLAY KING JAMES AND THE CAVS! ! ! awesome.

Your Atlanta Hawks (thunder sticks) have finally defeated the Miami Heat. The Miami Heat’s consolation prize, vacation. The Hawks get to play Lebron ”Leroy Brown, the baddest man in town”, James (Yeah! Alright! Awesome!). Ok, maybe Joe Johnson earned some of his money back today, I guess.

The Hawks lost the regular season series three games to one. I’m expecting more of the same. Actually, I might even be satisfied with a win at home from Atlanta. The Cavs are on a WHOLE, NOTHER, LEVEL right now. The will not be satisfied with anything less than the championship. The Hawks, unfortunately, are just happy to be there right now. I’ll watch but I’m not expecting much. Hey, I’m a realist people!

Congrats to the Hawks for saving Mike Woodson’s job and making it to the second round. Just an observation about Woody, who I love as a coach. The one thing that he has done that has been detrimental to the Hawks is that he doesn’t play enough of the bench. You don’t get better by riding the pine. You get better by playing in real competition. We could play with a lot more energy if we used more players.

Pacman Strikes Again!

Pacman Strikes Again.

I didn’t think it would go down the way it did . . . but it did. Pacman Destroyed Ricky. I like to watch Ricky fight too, but he just got dealt the bidness. Will Pretty Boy Floyd come out of retirement to fight Pacman? We will see?

HAWKS LOOSE!?! No suprise.

Those Hawks did exactly what I thought they would do, loose. That’s why I had the Hawks in seven. Hopefully, and I do mean hopefully, we will pull this thing out.

On today’s show, we talked about how pathetic the hawks played and how they are not winners. Please listen to the show for the details. I don’t feel like talking about it any more. http://www.thegaboys.com

Those Bulls are SERIOUS. I like the way they play.
